“Incha, desincha e passa!” (Inflate, deflate, and it’s gone!)

 

The work “Incha, desincha e passa!” seeks to promote a dynamic orchestration of colour, light, and movement. How?

Through a system of low-pressure air, suspended on the façade of an emblematic building of the city, where hundreds of balloons and lights are attached, which organically and successively transform the image of the public and private space.

 

“Incha” (inflate) and “Desincha” (deflate), with the inflation and extraction of air and lighting of 318 balloons.

“E passa” (and it’s gone), briefly restoring the building’s original, pre-existing façade.

 

Concept

“Time” runs through and changes the reading of any Work. In works subject to temporal and/or atmospheric exposure, as time goes by they may deteriorate or change their form, material, or colour. On the other hand, there are Works that, through the course of time, come to generate a different reading or perception. This happens not because of their physical or compositional change, but rather because of evolution, adaptation, or new knowledge that enables us to read and understand the Work in a way that is perhaps wiser, more sensible, or just more conformed.

The architectural work ages and degrades. It records a time. The photographic work captures a moment, concrete and specific, that “time” would otherwise make us forget or distort what would become a memory. The musical work is written for a time, limited, and runs for brief minutes.

 

The Work “Incha, desincha e passa!” promotes the harmonization between different “times”:

• The implementation of an ephemeral Work that promotes the affirmation of a building in relation to its surroundings, albeit designed for a specific time.
• Consideration for the memory of the place and the people, with a dynamic intervention, enabling the installation of the contemporary Work to be asserted, while restoring the original façade, throughout the day.
• The possibility of capturing different images and configurations of one façade, by using a device that promotes a succession of cycles with organic movements.
